Desktop Publishing
When E-Machines, Inc was built in 1986, it was one of the first companies to produce large display screens for the Macintosh. At a time when the only choice for Apple's Macintosh was a 7-inch screen, the Vollums began manufacturing large 17-inch screen monitors for the Mac. For the first time you could view two whole pages of a document on one display. Those first monitors set the stage for the revolution in the publishing industry and ushered in the era of Desktop Publishing. Within a few years, 24-inch high-resolution color monitors were a regular sight in corporate offices and homes all over the world.
In-Flight Entertainment
In 1997, Steve and Tisha combined state of the art computer, CD, MP3 and DVD technology to play music and show movies in-flight for general business aviation. The system also displays high-resolution topographical maps depicting roads and highways. The device shows Altitude, Air Temperature, Time To Destination, Distance Traveled as well serving as an In-flight Tour Guide indicating mountains, rivers and points of interest below. Thereby answering the often asked questions "What's that down there?" and "Are we there yet?"
Helicopter Power Indicator
A unique, patented flight instrument for helicopters developed in 2003 followed the successful entertainment adventure. This device displays the power available and power reserve at each phase of a flight, helping pilots fly their helicopters with greater safety even in challenging performance situations.
